NASA's next-generation engine, a five-segment solid rocket motor development - or DM-2 - was successfully launched as a test case in the promontory atk, Utah. Before switching, which lasted just over two minutes, the global temperature of the engine was lowered to 40 degrees Fahrenheit to validate the ability of the engine to operate at low temperatures.
